What a profile is
A profile is a complete, separate Brunvo workspace on one Mac, like a browser profile: a work profile and a personal one, or one per business you work for. Every window belongs to one profile and shows it on the profile button at the end of the toolbar.
Each profile keeps its own:
- settings, theme, terminal look, and keys;
- desks, tabs, layouts, windows, and running sessions (another profile's sessions keep running while you work here);
- GitHub connections, saved views, boards, issue links, and hours;
- agent rules and prompts;
- Brunvo account and membership.
Some settings apply to All profiles, as marked in Settings. The Manager and extensions work in Default; other profiles show that limit instead of starting them.
Shared by every profile: the background service, the brunvo command, and each agent CLI's own sign-in. Brunvo never redirects or copies a provider's sign-in, so two profiles use the same Claude Code login unless you sign the CLI in and out yourself.
Profiles keep work apart; they are not a security boundary. Anyone signed in to your Mac user account can open every profile.
Add, switch, and manage
- Add: File ▸ Profiles ▸ Add Profile…, or the profile button's popover. Give it a name and colour, choose a copy of the current profile's look, keys, and agent settings or fresh defaults, then sign in.
- Switch: choose a profile in the popover to switch the current window to it. Option-click, or choose Open in New Window, to open it beside the current profile. Switch Profile… is in the command palette, and you can give it a key.
- Manage: Settings ▸ Account ▸ Profiles lists every profile with its name, colour, and monogram.
- Remove: select the profile and choose Remove…. Brunvo says how many desks and sessions go, offers to export the profile's settings first, then removes its desks, settings, and snapshots and ends its sessions. Your Brunvo account is never deleted, and the Default profile is never removed.
From the command line
Inside a Brunvo tab, brunvo acts in that tab's profile. Elsewhere it acts in Default unless you pass --profile ID.
brunvo profiles # every profile; * marks the one this command acts in
brunvo profiles create "Contoso" # add one
brunvo profiles open ID # open its window
The command line guide has every profile command.
